I have been hearing more and more lately from people about reasons they don't go to church. These are people that, surprisingly, have some very strong convictions. The biggest reason they don't attend church? They find the people too judgemental.
But wait! Christians love everyone with the love of Christ! We don't judge! The unfortunate truth is that many church members do judge. They judge how you dress (skirt too short, top too low cut, looks shabby, looks like you should be out on the town, how can a woman wear pants), they judge how you act, they judge what you listen to, they judge who your friends are, they judge the work you do, they judge your home (is it big enough, is it clean enough, is it decorated properly). Friends, the Bible tells us Christ is the only judge. Only the most Holy God on High knows our hearts. Only the loving Lord and Savior can know our relationship with Him. And He uses all of us as believers to reach others. And He calls all of us differently. And no one - let me repeat - NO ONE MAN can tell you that you are or are not walking with the Lord.
We are not called to judge another Christian's walk. We are not called to decide how a Christian should live. We are here to show the love of Christ through our actions and our words. Love your neighbor and help those who need help. Show people you care about them and they will see the love of Christ.

Merry Christmas!
Matthew 1:21
And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His Name Jesus: for He shall save His people from their sins.

Proverbs 20:22
Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the Lord, and He shall save thee.

But what about when people speak badly about us, and what they say isn't true? Surely then we can do the same thing? Surely the Lord would want us to defend ourselves and set the person right? Not so. Proverbs 20:3 says It is an honor for a man to cease from strife.
If we answer harsh words with equally harsh words, we are creating strife. If we choose instead to smile and walk away, praying for the person, we are responding correctly. If we do that, we have done our best to show God's love.
Is it easy? Not at all - the human reaction is to get defensive and respond in kind. Let us strive to give a response that will bring glory to our Lord and be a good testimony to others.

Isaiah 25:1
O Lord, Thou art my God; I will exalt Thee, I will praise Thy Name; for Thou hast done wonderful things; Thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.

Have a blessed Sunday!
